Round 1 | Delacombe Park v Mt Eliza
Congratulation to newly appointed Captain Chris Wisbey and his team on a remarkable victory in the first Jack Peacock Cup T20 match on Tuesday night. The Mounties travelled to Delacombe Park, batted first and amassed a competitive score of 147. Rashmika was brilliant scoring 51 off just 19 balls, Jack Mensforth in his first game for the club contributed an important 27 and Russell Fulton chimed in with 16.
We then witnessed an incredible knock from one of the Delacombe opening bats who smashed 83 in super quick time, and at 2 for 112 with 10 overs still to play, you could be forgiven for thinking the game was lost.
However the Mounties refused to yield, and in an incredible 10 overs of enthralling cricket, the boys took 8 wickets for just 21 runs to roll the Parkers for 133 and record a memorable victory. Scott Tansley (4/13 off 4) and Nick Baron (2/14 off 4) were the destroyers with the ball along with 2 runouts conjured up from some high quality and desperate efforts in the field.
The match was a timely reminder that you never give up in a game of cricket and that runs on the board is always an advantage. Thank you to the many spectators that attended, it was a great show of support for our club. Go Mounties.
