Mt Eliza v Heatherhill
We came into the game needing to win to keep finals hopes alive. We lost the toss and had a bowl.
Heatherhill batted slow to start the game, losing their first wicket at 64, they had a few little partnerships after that before tea, we had them 2/90 odd at the break. We continued to get wickets after the break with Ravindu continuing on his good form with the ball picking up 4/68 off 32.
Heatherhill finished the days play at 9/198
Day 2 – Rash and Rav got us of to another great start leaving us 1/42.
Biggsy then came to the crease were he got hit on his broken finger 2nd ball he faced, we lost wickets quite regularly till Timmy Strickland came in and put on 43 with Biggsy.
Biggsy finished on 20 odd of 180 odd balls ( really gutsy knock).
Unfortunately we were bowled out for 155, the boys battle hard but just were not good enough on the day.
Round 12 | Flinders v Mt Eliza
With several changes to the side for this game, we had Harry Watson playing his first game for the club and big Chen also playing his first game. We won the toss and elected to bowl to the surprise of a few, Flinders got of to a slow start, only being on 28 after 20 overs.
After drinks we continued to get wickets to have flinders 5/89 at tea, we continued on with good form with the ball after tea to bowl flinders out for 119. Ravindu finished with 5/33 of 16. We had 22 overs to bat and finished the day 3/55 with Rashmika on 39 not out.
Day 2, we needed 65 to win, Rash and Kenty got us to 109 before we lost them both. Rashmika 79, Wiz and Dutch batted well to see us pass them 5 down. We made the decision to declare at 5/127.
We bowled well through the innings with Flinders going really hard at us on a fast small ground, Ravindu again was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 4/65 of 14. Flinders declared and set us 158 of 27 overs.
Once again this season Rash and Rav got us to a flyer, hit boundaries all over the ground. The boys put on 87 for the first wicket with Rash making 73. Out came Chen who continued Rashes form smashing 39 of 20 odd balls. Ravindu is back making 45. We passed them 1 down in 19 overs.
Rashmika finished game with 151 runs and 2 wickets. Ravindu finished with 9 wickets and 45 runs.
Dutchy was awesome with the gloves, Harry Watson bowled really well for his first game and it was great to have Timmy Strickland back in the field for us.
Great game for the boys – Massive game against Heatherhill this week.
Round 11 | Mt Eliza v Mornington
This was a big game for the club, being the first game played for the Stocker/McWilliams Cup. It was also the GameFace Game Changer game. We lost the toss and had a bowl.
Early wickets had Mornington 3/32 with tight bowling, but once again we couldn’t get a break through as they put on 110 for the next wicket. Once we got the breakthrough Mornington lost 5/9, Big Sash finished with 4/27 and Nick finished with 1/7 off 5 before he hurt his knee
We got of to a good start with the bat, Rashmika was hitting the ball everywhere before Mornington’s Bryce McGain got him. Ravindu continued his good form with 38, Biggsy got a well made 31 but unfortunately again we just couldn’t stay in front of the run rate and fell short in the last over. Big Sash heads home to play in his Sri Lankan try out, so good luck mate and your always welcome back to the club anytime you are in the country. We all have our fingers crossed that Nick’s knee injury isn’t as bad as first thought.
Round 10 | Mt Eliza v Seaford Tigers
Awaiting report
Round 9 | Mt Eliza v Moorooduc
We unfortunately lost Rashmika mid week due to Covid, we then we lost the toss on a 37 degree day. We bowled well early before they got a partnership going, we didn’t help ourselves with a lot of dropped catches throughout the day. As a group we fought the day out considering how hot it was. Moorooduc finished the days play at 9/263
We started week 2 off with Ravindu, and Ollie put his hand up to open the batting. Rav unfortunately got one to roll and bowled him, Ollie batted for 20 overs which is a great achievement for a 14 year old. We never got going until the 2nd last partnership with Scott Tansley making 38 and Nick Baron making 37. Disappointing start to the new year for the boys
Round 8 | Dromana v Mt Eliza
Round 7 | Seaford Tigers v Mt Eliza
We had the rat debut for the club at 269. We also had a late change on game day with Ollie Mc Ginley coming in.
We lost the toss and had a bowl. We got a early wicket to start the day. At drinks we had them 1/23 off 22 overs. With some really tight bowling Ravindu came on and got the 2 set batsmen out before tea. At the tea break we had bowled 47 overs which was a fantastic effort from the boys. After tea the ball started to reverse swing so Nick came back on and bowled really tight again. As a side we bowled tight the whole day, Rash came on and took the last wicket for us to give us 2 overs to bat.
Nick and Harry put there hands up to have a bat for us, unfortunately we lost Nick over night to be 1/0.
The second week we arrived to a great day to bat. Unfortunately we lost Harry and the rat early, Ravindu and Rash were batting fantastic till Ravindu got a LBW decision.
Sammy and Rash had a good partnership till Rash got a top edge and was out to a good catch. Sammy had a really solid hard fought knock for the club, putting on some solid partnerships with Kenty and Ollie.
We had a 35 last wicket stand where Ollie faced 48 balls and showed great fight. Unfortunately we fell 5 runs short but for me Ollie showed fantastic spirit, as a senior player of the club I don’t think I have been so proud of a single effort a player has shown to try get us over the line.
We move onto Dromana next week in a 2 day game equal points with 4th place.
Round 6 | Mt Eliza v Somerville

Round 5 | Heatherhill v Mt Eliza
We won the toss and decided to have a bat.
We got off to a fast start taking 20 runs off the first 3 overs. Then unfortunately we lost 5 for not many…
At 5/47 we had Wiz and Scotty T (Playing his 200th) at the crease, they were able to steady the ship. We lost Wiz and at 6/81 and then the Pom came in and played his natural game to pick the run rate up scoring a quick fire 20. Thankfully the Coach and Scotty put on 41 for the 8th wicket. I believe one of Scott’s best knocks in senior cricket.
We opened the bowling with myself and Ravindu and snared 2 early wickets to have Heatherhill 2/25. They then managed a solid 66 run partnership to be 3/91. We got the opportunity to strike and we did, with Rash and Nick doing the damage for us to bowl them out for 141. Fantastic win with great belief in the group.
Tansley 45* | Rashmika 27 | Pom 20 | N Baron 20 ran out last ball pushing for another run.
N Baron 3/37 | Rashmika 3/26
Round 4 | Mt Eliza v Flinders
We lost the toss and were sent into bat to my surprise. We lost Ravindu early for 7.
Biggsy came to the crease to bat with Rash, the boys batted beautifully together putting on 113 for the 2nd wicket. We finished the innings well with Wiz and the Pom both making 16 each, the Pom cleared the fence twice.
The rain unfortunately got the better of the game for us, but there has been some great signs of improvement with the bat for us this season. Big congratulations to Lachie Walsh and Jack Mensforth on making their 1st X1 debut for this great club.
Rashmika 76 | Biggsy 54 | Mensforth 16*
Bring on Heatherhill this coming weekend.
Round 3 | Mornington v Mt Eliza
Washed Out
Round 2 | Moorooduc v Mt Eliza
We had a late ground swap to Tanti and a really good inclusion of ex Mt Eliza junior Charlie Maxwell who is playing at St Kilda CC into the line up the boys were excited for the challenge. We lost the toss and had to bowl first.
With the ground looking pretty slow we wanted to take the pace off from the start, with Ravindu bowling the first over, he got a wicket with the first ball of the day. Moorooduc dug in with the bat and were 2/70 at drinks, then on came Chappy and Maxxie both bowled a treat. All the boys bowled really well with the coach getting back to some great form just before our 2 day campaign starts.
Chappy finished with 3, Maxxie 2, Ravindu 1, Nick 1, Tommy 1, 2 run outs
Moorooduc set us 113. Rashmika and Ravindu got us off to a fantastic start for the second week in a row with a partnership of 58 with Rashmika making 37. Then Biggsy and Ravindu got us home before drinks. Ravindu played a class knock making 64 not out, hitting the ball to all parts of the ground.
Rashmika 37, Ravindu 64*, Biggsy 12*
Was a good day out for us and the level has been set for the season for us to continue to play to. Player of the match Ravindu
Round 1 | Mt Eliza v Dromana
We got off to a solid start with Rashmika and Ravindu taking the score to 38 without loss but unfortunately both holed out in close time. We soon found ourselves at 5/64 with 4 of the 5 wickets out caught – classic impatience. Sam Glenn (19) and Chris Wisbey (35) played responsible knocks to give us some credibility but our score of 124 wasn’t anywhere near our expectation.
Tom Baron bowled well (2/12 off 8) but their best bat, Keiren Voelkl, batted really well and guided Dromana to a comfortable victory, only 2 wickets down with 7 overs to spare. It wasn’t the start the the season we had hoped for or expected, but there were many lessons we took from the game that will change how we perform in coming weeks.
